KPMG Australia and Family Business Association (AU) acknowledge the extraordinary contribution that Allin Towbars has made to Australia’s economic prosperity and success. Allin Towbars is a proudly South Australian family owned and operated business that has been in operation for 77 years and employs over 30 loyal staff members.

In a traditionally male dominated industry, this business is female run and family friendly, with a fun, positive and “can-do” attitude that radiates throughout the organisation.

Penni Donato MBA, GAICD, Managing Director of Allin Towbars shared her thoughts recently around leading the business. Established originally in 1946, Penni’s father Ron Gynell, acquired the business in 1986. When Ron passed in 2014, there was no succession plan in place, and Penni, together with her sisters, have overcome many barriers, to become one of the top manufacturers in the industry. She is really proud of their business’ ongoing commitment to producing high-quality products and supporting Australian businesses and the local community.

Following in her father’s footsteps, Penni has ensured that customer focus and service is a number one priority and a key driver in their success by maintaining authentic relationships with their customers. She is also extremely passionate about educating and supporting youth in their local community and empowering youth with learning disabilities by providing skills and training. By way of example, Allin Towbars are engaged in an SA Government program, focussed on Australian school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, allowing students to start working on an apprenticeship or traineeship from year 10.

Penni believes that family businesses drive and sustain employment in Australia. The connectedness they have to their business from a grass roots level flowing through to their deep relationships with their employees and a commitment to give back to their local community.

Allin Towbars are one of many of Australia’s family businesses who are making a significant impact to Australia’s infrastructure, economic resilience and support of our people and our community. Please join us in acknowledging Allin Towbars contribution to the Australian economy.
